Co-Founder, Eldress Jackie Campbell
Co-Founder, Eldress Jackie Campbell has spent 40 years supporting youth and families in Rochester, NY, as a leader in both the public and not-for-profit sectors. She is a strong advocate for the Black community and for Black family development and engagement. Eldress Campbell is a gifted facilitator of multiple curricula, and specializes in helping families build up their strengths rooted in the cultural practices of our Ancestors.
The Campbells have been married for 40+ years, and are the proud parents of six adult children. They relocated from Rochester, New York to southern Maryland in 2022, and are excited to engage in the cultural work to support the liberation of African descended people in the DMV.
About North Star Rites of Passage, LLC
North Star Rites of Passage, LLC (NSROP) is a consulting firm dedicated to enriching, encouraging, and empowering organizations that serve Black youth and families. Through professional development, culturally responsive training, and hands-on community programs, we help schools, churches, and agencies strengthen the cultural identity and academic success of the young people they serve.
Our approach is rooted in African-centered principles that honor kinship, achievement, family, and spirituality the very strengths that have guided Black families through adversity for generations.

The mission of North Star Rites of Passage is to enrich, encourage, and empower Black Families to cultivate cultural practices and strategies for the upliftment and liberation of Black families across the Diaspora.

Core Programs
Culturally Responsive Programs that Build Strength from Within
An African-centered youth development curriculum designed for boys and girls ages 11–15. The ROP program integrates the Seven Principles of Ma’at and Nguzo Saba, guiding youth through self-knowledge, family understanding, and community engagement.
- Builds cultural pride and leadership skills

- Encourages positive relationships and community service
A 12-week training series for parents that promotes positive racial socialization, effective communication, and culturally grounded parenting practices.

- Teaches modern strategies for raising confident, capable children
For educators, mentors, and facilitators who want to deliver culturally responsive programming in their schools or organizations. Includes certification, manuals, and resource toolkits.
